Error Instruments introduces Korsakov, another strange Eurorack module with an odd-looking thumb joystick on the front for voice interaction. ADVERTISEMENT Korsakov What is going on in here? Korsakov is a multi oscillator drum module with a joystick interface that pushes the selected sound to interesting places. The top knob dials in any one of seven presets which can be run at two speeds. So twist the knob and play with the joystick to get weird and wonderful sounds. It says that it’s a drum module and it does indeed have a trigger input to send it pulses but most of the sounds are more like a drone synth. I guess it depends on how you interact with it. I like how you sort of inhabit the sound once you engage with the joystick. The seven oscillators include a Square Wave synth, FM, Drone FM, Crush Modulation, Basic Oscillator, Chiptune and Wavetable. It’s definitely an interesting one. Apparently, the name is from a club in Amsterdam that were active in the “early days” and is inspired by memory loss. Korsakov is on an introductory special of 199. Korsakov webpage.
