Keith McMillen has announced the K-Mix BLUE Edition. The unique performance mixer, controller and audio interface is now dark blue. But it’s more than a facelift: The K-Mix BLUE has also received upgraded low-noise preamps and a full Ableton Live 11 control surface integration. Keith McMillen K-Mix BLUE The Keith McMillen K-Mix was first introduced in 2016. Designed as a performance mixer for live and studio use, the K-Mix combines a digital mixer, USB audio interface and control surface in one device. With the unique opto-tactile controls that Keith McMillen devices are known for, it’s an all-in-one control center that can be used as a stand-alone mixer or with a computer. Five years after the first K-Mix, the upgraded K-Mix BLUE sports a very nice-looking dark blue finish, which goes well with the colorful controls. The manufacturer says that the ABS-Polycarbonate enclosure is now extra durable. Keith McMillen K-Mix BLUE Two of the eight balanced inputs at the back feature XLR/TRS combo jacks and the new ultra low-noise μPre preamps. In addition to eight balanced 1/4” outputs, the K-Mix has a headphone mini jack on the front side. There’s a Micro USB port that powers the unit and exchanges audio and MIDI data with a computer. The second USB port is for the optional expander, which provides MIDI In/Out and allows you to connect external MIDI controllers. Keith McMillen K-Mix BLUE In terms of control, you get eight channel faders made of that weird tactile material that makes Keith McMillen devices so unique. The K-Mix also has four 360° rotary controls and a complete assortment of buttons to control your DAW. You can use it as a DAW controller and 8in/10out audio interface, or as a stand-alone digital mixer with its own DSP for EQ, compression, gate and reverb. Speaking of DAW control, one of the new features of the K-Mix BLUE is a full control surface integration for Ableton Live 11.
